How Does a Submersible Pump Work?

As we know, Low water pressure problems are very common in villages and busy towns. Especially, for agriculture purposes, water pumps have a big role to play. Our farmers produce a high yield of crops and they must need some sort of help at least when it comes to delivering proper water supplies to the crops. Submersible pumps, being one of the most used equipments are used in the fields greatly to pull water up from inside the deep bores. This article explains the working of submersible pumps along with their various applications.
Introduction to a Submersible Pump
A submersible pump works from within the water surface. It will be influnces of cable .That is, the pump works while having submerged inside the water. Dissimilar to the pumps that sit outside the well and suck water toward the ground, a submersible water pump is able to push water toward the surface. Submersible pumps are designed to be 2 to 4 feet tall and are 3 to 5 inches in diameter. Having a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the body of the pump ensures the prevention of water from entering inside the pump which can cause the pump to undergo short-circuiting. Other useful components of a submersible pump include the cable which is attached to the motor and a pipe which drags the water towards the surface.
Driving Water towards the Surface
When the pump is switched on, an electric current is passed through the pump via electrical wire. Due to the passage of electric current, the impellers inside the body of the pump start rotating. The rotating impellers suck water toward the body of the pump and then out toward the water tank via a pipeline. When the pressure switch is turned off, the current stops to run the submersible pump and the impellers discontinue their rotating motion. The water stops flowing out of the pipe.

Advantages of Water Pumps
Pumps which are set on the ground level are more prone to mechanical problems since they pull water out from inside the wells while standing outside the wells. However, a submersible pump has relatively less mechanical problems and they can last upto 25 years before they need a replacement. A pump placed on the ground level often suffers due to the problem of cavitation. However, this problem doesn't encounter in submersible pumps as they stand deep inside the ground level.
Submersible pumps have a big role to play in pushing water outside the deep bores. These pumps are not only good in villages but also apt to be used in agricultural applications. Mainly high power pumps are used in agricultural applications.
